PALACIOS: WANYAMA AND DEMBELE CHANGED SPURS

A former player for Tottenham Wilson Palacios opines that the combination of Victor Wanyama and MousaDembele in the midfield changed the team for the better and not necessarily Harry Kane and Dele Alli that everyone raves about.

The team led by Coach Mauricio Pochettino has been very good in defence this term and it has helped in their surge. Palacios is saying the pair is the main reason the team is playing the way Pochettino wants as they provide a strong cover for the backline.

“Together they make a great team, they don’t leave much work for the defence and they defend very well in midfield themselves too.

“The football had changed and now it’s very important for one of them to attack and the other to defend. Dembele goes on ahead and Wanyama stays a little behind but he also goes forward a bit as well,” Palacios told the club’s official site.

Wanyama has been an outstanding bargain for Spurs since they signed him from Southampton last summer. They got him for £11 million but he has contributed so much to the side. His partnership with Dembele is pure spectacle – one of the best if not the very best in the Premier League.

Spurs are clear to finish above Arsenal for the first time – something the team has rubbished, saying they have way bigger ambitions that just finishing above the Free Bet StoreGunners. They have failed to make their mark in the Champions League, unlike Leicester City who zoomed to the last eight in their debut season. Spurs are still chasing Chelsea for the Premier League title this term but the Blues resurgence after few slips seem to have put that past them.
